Punk London

The visual language includes a campaign font, drawn by Neville Brody, “Peace Riot” which was produced especially for the project. Talking about the commission Brody said:

"It has been an honour to be asked to develop the core design DNA of Punk.London for 2016's 40th anniversary of its birth. To be able to take a current view on a vital era which had so much creative impact and influence, as well as forming many of my own ideas and approaches, has been a new revelation, seeing so much contemporary relevancy within its remit and intent. The era feels fresh, and a year-long celebration will provide inspiration to many who will find its core ideas newly resonant and inspiring.”

More updates to follow in 2015 and 2016.

Channel 4

Brody Associates have cut an exclusive new typefaces for the new look Channel 4 (UK). Named Horseferry (for the display font) and Chadwick (for the information font), the fonts are key elements in a brand new look for the corporation’s main channel. New idents and containers for the typography are inspired by the deconstruction of the iconic Lambie Nairn “4”. The broadcaster’s award-winning in-house creative agency, 4Creative, commissioned Brody Associates to create the typeface and named the fonts after their two major London locations, Horseferry Road and Chadwick Street.

Channel 4

Horseferry is designed to reflect on Channel 4’s sharp, disruptive, cutting edge, challenging personality as a unique British institution. Chadwick reflects the modern, clean, functional and informative nature of their work as a public service broadcaster. The two fonts have been created to work hand-in-hand across print, digital and broadcast environments.

Offering a completely bespoke service, from sketched font concepts through to delivery of the final typeface, Brody Associates also created a repertoire of weights to ensure breadth of use and consistent performance across all of the brands main platforms. Horseferry was designed in bold, medium and regular weights Chadwick in bold, medium, regular, light and extra light. Both typefaces are exclusive to Channel 4.

Commenting on the commission, Brody Associates Founder, Neville Brody, said:

“It has been an honour to be asked to design and produce the core font for on- and off-air for this modern iconic UK broadcaster, one that has had a significant affect on British taste and capacity for extreme, irreverent ideas.

I have always loved and respected the pioneering and influential brand design that Martin Lambie-Nairn created, Having followed the growth and evolution of the channel from its birth and position as a vital rebellious independent cultural space, a place it has been loyal to and strengthened even more over time, I am proud to have been involved in helping to develop the new visual language for the channel to help take it forward for the next decade.”

Brody worked closely with fellow Associates on the typeface: Luke Prowse, Philip Rodgers, Jack Llewellyn and Chris Nott. The wider collaboration and holistic new look for the channel was produced in close partnership between the amazing teams at 4Creative, Channel 4 Marketing and DBLG.
